The Mandalorian has a fantastic background screen that is reminiscent of the world of Star Wars. The design of the screen has the look of a green sea with a mandalorian warrior descending from a mountain. Aside from being realistic, the background screen allows the viewer to view the action in a holographic way. The colors of the mandalorian costume can be seen in the film’s opening credits.

Instead, the team at ILM used virtual production to create a stunning three-dimensional background. They created a curved volume using thousands of overlapping images from Angel Island.
